woyww - the wip edition

I'm pretty sure I'm ill as my desk is still far tidier than normal!  It's a relief to look at Julia's desk (our fearless What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday leader) and see what my desk normally looks like!

Today I'm working on a shadow box.  It's a Work In Progress, the wip of the post title.  I'm usually the queen on UFOs (unfinished objects) so it's nice to have a wip.  This piece is  Hallowe'en themed, because I love spooky and creepy and macabre.  I'm going to paint the cut outs and then layer them so it's nice and dimensional.  I haven't figured out how to do the bats yet, but I'll figure it out.  I'm already thinking fishing wire.

Of course, I need to buckle down and make some cards as my one retailer needs some more (how cool is that?) but who wants to do serious work when they can play?

Speaking of play, does anyone know of a good place to have custom stamps made?  I want to have my pear turned into a stamp.  I know I could find someone online, but I'd love a recommendation so I can get a nice deeply etched stamp.  I have a great company, but they're in America and I need one in Britain!  Huge thanks to anyone who suggests a place.

Hope you have a great and creative day.

  1. love the trees...i did look into the stamp thing but it turned out to be about £6 for one stamp with a normal company. Maybe you might want to think about buying a Teresa Collins stampmaker if you really want to do more or ask a favour from someone who has one!

  2. Did you do those cut outs by hand? They're incredibly accurate. Can't help on the stamp recommendation but good luck.

  3. Ah you are working neatly - gracious. I believe it's better for the brain though. I've used a company called Andover rubber Stamps for years - they produce stamps for a couple of UK retailers who have their own lines..

  4. I would be interested in finding a good stamp maker, to do good work for a modest price. That cutting of your images is so excellent. You must be so clever to create those shapes so perfectly. Lovely work.
